It is Ramadan. The month of mercy, reflection and drawing closer to Allah. And yet right now airstrikes are hitting Kabul and Kandahar while Pakistani and Afghan forces clash along the border. Pakistan's own defence minister has called it open war. Two Muslim nations. One sacred month. And the sound of missiles instead of prayer. People on both sides are breaking their fast in fear. Families in border regions are displaced and hungry not just from fasting but from destruction. Civilians including women and children are caught in the middle of something they did not start. The Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said the Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe. So what are we doing? This conflict has deep roots. Border disputes, militant groups, years of mistrust. None of that is simple. But there is nothing complicated about choosing dialogue over destruction during the holiest month of our calendar.
