I want to address the recent news about a US Congressional report calling for sanctions on Nigeria over the "alleged genocide of Christians."

This report is real and was submitted to the White House . It demands actions like withholding funds and repealing Sharia law .

But it is absolutely false that this violence is one-sided. The narrative that only Christians are being killed is dangerously incomplete.

Just weeks ago, in early February 2026, reports emerged of horrific massacres in Kwara and Katsina states where an estimated 210 Muslims were killed in their communities .

They were reportedly killed after refusing to join jihadist groups .

Groups like MURIC have rightly condemned this "selective outrage," asking why the world only pays attention when Christians are victims .

They are calling for the protection of all Nigerians, regardless of their faith .

The real issue is that Nigeria is facing a severe and complex security crisis.

Bandits, militant groups like Boko Haram, and criminal gangs are terrorizing both Muslim and Christian communities .

The focus should be on the senseless loss of all human life and the urgent need for the government to protect every citizen.

Every death is a tragedy. We must not let any narrative erase the suffering of others.
